We're all motivated to work by getting that paycheck. Paul had a right to be paid for his labor preaching the gospel, but he shows that he is the "stronger" brother (chap. 8) by earning his living with a second job. A true servant has the character and commitment to do what's best for those he serves rather than himself. While we all have the right to be paid what we earn, the real question is how well are we doing the jobs God gives us.
