Paul lived in very troubled times. In spite of loneliness, hardship, and danger, God worked in ways Paul could never have imagined. The Lord provided friendship, physical safety, and encouragement just when he needed it as he went through some great difficulties in Corinth. Like Paul, we can see God's hand in our own lives as well.
